About the Book of the Law

According to the writings of Aleister Crowley, he wrote the Book of the Law as it was dictated to him by a supranatural being called Aiwass in 3 hours, in 3 successive days between 12 and 1 pm on the 8th, 9th and 10th of April in Cairo, Egypt, in the year 1904. We are not obliged to believe this account of things as Crowley was a firm believer in skepticism. He once quipped "I slept with faith and found a corpse in my arms on awakening; I drank and danced all night with doubt and found her a virgin in the morning." Although there have been many sensational books written about Crowley that entertained his fantastic reception story of the Book of the Law, there has been little attention paid to the opposite side of the coin. Crowley clearly knew that by spinning the tale of the magical reception his book would attract people looking for magic and wonder and spiritual treasure and it would therefore last. What I have asked myself is why was it so important to Crowley that this little book survived, remained in print, and popularity to this very day, that he would perpetrate a forgery? Was he merely a megalomaniac? Or did he have a long term plan in mind that involved Liber AL vel Legis: The Book of the Law?

At one point, Crowley said that hated Christianity and vowed to destroy it eventually. He said Christianity in his day had made "a hell for any man who cares at all for freedom." But Crowley wasn't a fool and he surely knew that while creating his own cult from credulous believers in spiritism would keep the Book of the Law in print, it didn't have a hope in hell of overthrowing Christianity - so in that case, what is it about these 220 pages that he thought would be so dangerous to the religion of Christ? Well today, we have an answer to that.

It is a fact that both the Hebrew Bible and the New Testament were embedded with a formal system of mathematics that was intended by its writers to help clarify many points of dogma, but that through the persecution of Jews and the corruption of the Catholic Church the method of reading this math was lost and suppressed. Aleister Crowley was a cryptographer who discovered the ciphers to this ancient method of math and he embedded the Book of the Law with it. The only thing that has ever threatened the Church is truth, and the overturning of self-serving dogma, so I believe that the only reason for inventing the fable of the Books reception was to preserve these ciphers in transliterated form so that our generation could read the bible in all its entirety. By finding the ciphers for the Book of the Law, we could discover for ourselves what biblical writers were really talking about without relying on the invented and self-serving dogma of the Church to act as an oppressive and condescending middle man. This site is dedicated to uncovering the gematria of the Book of the Law, just as our sister site Shematria is dedicated to uncovering the gematria of the Bible, but unlike Crowley my motivation is not to end Christianity but to bring it home to its authentic Jewish roots. After more than two thousand years, we can finally learn exactly what Aleister Crowley and the ancient scribes that wrote the Bible wanted us, the people of the future, to understand, so that we can all benefit from knowing our true history.
